Kate was brilliant when buying a puppy from her. At the time she had 2 litters available and we spoke at great lengths which would be best suited for me.
Her communication through everything was great even through a slight hiccup.
I now have a boy from Lyric x Hemp and he was definitely worth all the wait and stress.
Arrow has the kindest soul and absolutely adores my nieces and nephews. He has a beautiful off switch but once that switch has been flipped, he has great drive, speed and focus but also very biddable. And just an absolute gentleman .
His training is coming along beautiful and we have been told he is doing amazingly for his age. We hope to compete in some working tests this year .

Kate has been a brilliant breeder and one we have returned to as my parents are having a pup this year.
Kate was very supportive and communicative from the very beginning, instantly understanding the kind of dog I was looking for and matching me up with a pup from the Linen x Biz C litter. We received regular messages, photos and videos of the pups and no question was too much. What also really impressed us was how obvious it was how much Kate loved and cared for her dogs, and how lovely the conditions are that the dogs live in.
Goose is everything we asked for and more. She is very healthy and we always get comments on how natural her drive is, how glossy her coat is and how beautiful she is! She is cuddly, gentle, playful, active, extremely eager to please and excels in all her training. She is goofy and absolutely loves life, and has brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. Shes a sofa dog, a long walk companion, a yard dog, a family dog and a fantastic gun dog.
I would 100% recommend Kate as a breeder and would return to her time and time again.

I truly believe that sometimes a dog finds you. Our home was already bustling with five working dogs who were also cherished pets—four cocker spaniels and a springer. I had known Kate and her family for years, following her journey as her business, Holmecliffe Working Dogs, flourished on Instagram.
Then one day, I saw a post featuring a ginger female cocker spaniel puppy whose first home had fallen through. The moment I saw her, I just knew she was meant to join our family. With the litter nearly ready to go to their forever homes, I visited Kate to ensure the fit was right, and to allow her to assess us as a potential homing family.
I was thoroughly impressed by the Kennels. Everything was carefully structured around the well-being of both the mother and the pups. The time and dedication Kate pours into socialising the puppies is truly exceptional. By the time Daisy was ready to come home, she seamlessly integrated into our family.
Daisy is a confident, curious little dog with a quick mind. She mastered her puppy lessons faster than any pup we’ve had before. Once she was out and about with our other dogs, she picked up her beating job remarkably quickly. Her recall is excellent, and she’s perfectly content to relax by the fire in the evenings.
Thanks to the formative time spent with Kate’s delightful young son, Daisy is brilliant with children. The ongoing support Kate offers to the litter families through a WhatsApp group has been incredibly helpful and enjoyable. It’s been a joy to watch Daisy’s siblings grow and thrive alongside her. Kate has established an exemplary Kennels, with careful and thoughtful breeding programmes that I am sure will produce both champions and wonderful pets for years to come.

​After deciding on getting a puppy last year I was confident that Kate was the breeder for me as her love and passion for her dogs is clear. Kate kept me informed throughout the whole process with regular pupdates and updates on mum too. The aftercare and support was amazing and I cannot recommend Kate highly enough as a breeder. Olive is such a happy, healthy and confident dog and the perfect blend of a working dog and chilled house pup.

I had been following Kate and her dogs on Instagram for a long time. I liked her passion for her dogs. When my beloved chocolate Labrador, Basil, passed away I knew I would eventually end up with a Working line Golden Retriever. I looked locally for reputable breeders but none came close to Kate. Her experience, pure joy and love for her dogs, in addition to excellent lines and very careful breeding including health testing easily won me over. I found Kate knowledgeable, very honest and she clearly cares a great deal about all her dogs and the homes her pups will go to.
She kept me informed on Linen’s pregnancy, birth and how the pups were getting on, including lots of photos. She provided me with detailed descriptions, pedigree and details of both the parents of the litter.
I made the 600 mile round trip to see the litter twice. Once to pick my pup and then to collect. Kate did not put any pressure on me and allowed me lots of time to choose. The kennels were clean and the dogs and puppies very much loved and socialised and provided with lots of enrichment experiences as they grew.
When I came to collect, all the paperwork was ready, as well and a goody bag and promise to keep her updated with my pup’s progress. There is also an owner’s Facebook Group where owners can update, compare and show off our pup’s achievements.
Mine is obviously the singular most handsome and intelligent of the all the litters!
In short, Kate is a reputable and ethical breeder. She loves her dogs and their welfare is at the heart of everything she does. I just wish I had room for ten more!

Buying our first puppy, Peat, from Kate has been a fantastic experience. She is so professional and friendly and breeds beautiful, intelligent, family dogs.
She is somebody who clearly cares about the dogs she is breeding, not just from the breeding point of view but from the support and aftercare she provides too.
She is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and I feel I could always ask her any question in regard to training or management. The puppy pack she provided was very generous and it’s lovely that she has created a group chat for all the litter mates to stay in contact and compare notes.
After having such a lovely experience, if I am ever to buy another cocker spaniel, it will be from her xxx

When my husband and I decided we would get our first puppy I was instantly nervous about picking the right place. I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse of 12 years, I have experienced so many breeder nightmares or puppies coming from places that hindered their early development not helping. Kate at Holmecliffe Gundogs is not one of those breeders. Doing my research I was extremely impressed on her knowledge, care, husbandry and genuine love for her dogs and it shows. Every interaction was incredible, she made sure not only she was the right fit as a breeder, that we were the right fit for the puppy we wanted. Our working cocker spaniel is now 11 months old and we are absolutely besotted with her. Kate made our first puppy experience so positive and I cannot thank her enough for this experience. If you are considering Holmecliffe Gundogs please go for it, you will not regret your decision.
